9 lb Baby Kaleb! What a big boy!

Fam and friends...as you can see from the title, Kaleb has reached 9 lbs as of last night.  He is getting to be a big boy.  So Kaleb is doing very well with is oxygen and is down to .3 or 300 cc of an liter.  Kaleb had his suck/swallow test this week that showed that he had more aspiration with the regular infant nipple versus the slow flow nipple.  In addition, he also had a GI test done as well to check if he had reflux issues as well.  The test showed that he had moderate reflux.  As a result, Kaleb is allowed to bottle feed with the slow flow nipple once daily and he has also started zantax meds twice a day for the reflux.  The doctors also changed his NJ feeding tube (went straight to the intestines) to a NG feeding tube that goes straight to the stomach.  So the goal for the next few days is to see how well Kaleb does with these changes and to watch for any reflux or oxygen changes.  If Kaleb does well, the next step will be to change his feeding to every 3-4 hours versus the continuous feeds and see how he does with more volume on his stomach and if all goes well he will slowly move forward to bottle feedings and hopefully home from there.  The second part to all of this is if he should have increase issues with reflux and oxygen.  In that case the doctors have informed us that in order to keep his lungs safe and not have him revert back to increase oxygen requirements, Kaleb may need a surgery to put in a feeding tube that will allow him time to out grow the reflux issue.  So we are in prayers that he will continue to do well with his feedings and not have to have the surgery.  However, I have put it all in God's hands and whatever he sees fit that is what will be done.  God has brought Kaleb so far and I know He is going to continue to bless him and our fam.

Please continue to keep us in prayers and I will keep you posted.  I love you all dearly and hope you like the pics!
