Weekly Hair Update - March 24, 2011

On Thursday, March 24th I completed my weekly hair routine which I'm trying to stick with to help maintain/promote hair growth as well as help with my itchy scalp.  I first started off with a pretreatment which included oiling my entire scalp/ends with extra virgin olive oil (evoo) followed with a scalp massage.  I decided to do a henna gloss treatment (instructions on curlynikki) for a deep moisturizing conditioning and a little to help color my grays on the edges...so I made my mix and allowed it to sit while I shampooed my hair with my homemade black soap shampoo.  After rinsing the shampoo, I followed with a cheapie conditioner (Suave coconut....) and detangle my hair with a wide tooth comb and the tangle teezer (will do a review after I use it a couple of times).  I then applied the henna paste to freshly cleaned and tangle free hair, applied shower cap, and sat under dryer for 1.5 hour.  I completely rinsed the henna out of my hair and applied Aubrey Organics Honey Suckle Rose conditioner and evoo, applied shower cap, and sat under dryer for 20 minutes as a deep treatment.  I must say that my hair was left feeling super soft, some shine, grays were brownish/reddish, and some popping curls.  I applied my favorite leave-in conditioner (Kimmaytube...will upload info) to each section and twisted hair in big twists...total 16.  I also dusted my ends (clipped fly away hairs on the ends of my twist).  I wore my hair over the weekend with the twist pinned up/headband and finally I un-twisted this morning and pinned my hair in an updo....must say that it is cute. Overall, I'm happy with my current new routine and it can be time consuming but hey....everything takes time and I'm looking forward to healthy big hair!
