Bible Study: Galatians 5

Last weeks study was about the freedom of the gospel and living by the Holy Spirit.  Chapter 5 was a great study for me because it is a reminder that we no longer have to live by the law and conform to the world.  When God sent his only begotten son Jesus Christ...we were saved.  We are saved by our faith in Christ not by our deeds.  That is truly important because you can do all you want for God (deed wise) but if he isn't in your heart, your not serving him, reading his word, and allowing him to be number one in your life....none of your actions matter.  The saying is "Faith without works is dead" but you can see that first you have to have faith then comes the actions.  We can evaluate our faith by evaluating how we are treating others.  So how are you doing?

The chapter also goes on to reveal that we must not conform to the world and its ways.....jealousy, witch craft, adultery, homosexuality, etc.   We must live by the Holy Spirit that gives us love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control.  Isn't that amazing.  My goal is to work on each characteristic and to develop my relationship with God by making sure that I'm lead by the Holy Spirit.  Just be reminded of what Matt. 16:24 states...."take up your cross and follow me [Jesus]".

Mrs. L

Very inspirational. I definitely need to work on patience. I think I lack that when it comes to this job situation and other things going on in my life. Thanks for the posting.

Oh yeah, I was wondering where you were. Didn't see a recent post. LOL!
